CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Adults Speakers of Other Languages)
CELTA; It is a proficiency certificate issued for teachers who will teach English to adults. This program; It is organized for English Teachers whose mother tongue is not English. The CELTA program is organized for candidates who have no teaching experience, little or no teaching certificate (for example, English or American Language and Literature graduates, translation and interpretation graduates). The certificate is issued by the “University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES)”. English Teachers who receive this Cambridge University-approved certificate have a document that enables them to teach all over the world. Candidates who want to obtain the CELTA certificate first attend courses that last 4 weeks and are generally given in England. During these courses, there are also practical application courses where teaching experience can be gained. These lessons allow teachers to complete their education by gaining experience teaching English at local schools in England.
CELTA courses are a certificate program for English teachers of all levels with no or little teaching experience. CELTA courses are offered at 286 centers in 54 countries. Another important requirement to attend Celta courses is to have a good command of English. You must have at least Level C1 or 7.00 in IELTS. CELTA Programme; When taken full-time, it usually takes 4-5 weeks. You can start these courses almost every month. During the programme, trainees are evaluated by observers appointed by the Cambridge University ESOL department. There is no final exam. There are 2 phases in the assessment: trainee teaching and written assignments. You can get your certificate with your performance during the training and start to practice your profession abroad.
DELTA (Diploma in Teaching English to Adults Speakers of Other Languages)
DELTA; It is a qualification diploma issued for teachers who teach English to adults. DELTA is available for teachers who are currently working as teachers and have at least 2 years of experience. English Teachers who have taken CELTA before can also get DELTA. In addition, in order to receive the DELTA Diploma, the age of 21 and over is required. The diploma is awarded by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES). Certified by Cambridge University.
Candidates who want to get the DELTA Diploma first attend an intensive course lasting 2-3 months. During this course, theoretical and practical training is given together and teachers gain teaching experience in the UK. Then they can take the exam in England and return to Turkey.
Course content; Teaching interns, observing experienced teachers in the classroom, submitting written assignments on many practical subjects, examining a case study and taking a written exam. During the course of the programme, trainees are evaluated by external teachers and by observers appointed by the University of Cambridge ESOL department. There are 3 stages in the evaluation; In-Course Study, Case Study, Written Exam. When you successfully pass these stages and have a diploma, you can practice your profession anywhere in the world.
