Overseas University Education System and Duration
Undergraduate study abroad usually takes 3 to 4 years in many countries and programs. While there are 4-year undergraduate programs in America and Canada, this period is generally 3 years in Europe. Some engineering departments can take 4 years. In addition, architecture programs can last for 5 years, dentistry and pharmacy departments for 5 years, and medical education for 6 years.
Some universities that accept international students expect students to have taken some of their courses at the high school level, except for language proficiency and graduation averages. In order to take these courses, which are not offered in the Turkish high school curriculum, students can prepare in preparatory programs that provide academic content as well as language education. Some students, on the other hand, try to graduate from there by taking high school education in the country where they intend to go to university in order not to stay in this situation. In this way, they get the chance to apply to programs that are only open to students of that country. Preferred programs for university-oriented high school education are generally high school in England, high school in Canada, and high school in America. There are also opportunities for students wishing to pursue a high school education in countries within the European Union.
Students, who can receive education in both shorter and lower costs, can also continue their business life without any problems when they return to Turkey by going to schools with Higher Education Institution (YÖK) equivalency. Even if university education varies from country to country, it often does not cost more than in Turkey. Students have the opportunity to both specialize in a language, live in a country abroad and do an internship. At the same time, they have the opportunity to do this very close to the costs in Turkey. Therefore, the majority of students place universities abroad at the top of their education preferences. Because the diplomas of many universities abroad have YÖK equivalency, they are different with their education structure that accepts students without examination, and they are no different from the schools in Turkey in terms of cost.
